ELIOT'S GHOSTS (2023)

A radio show/ a mixtape/ a sound work. Aired on Alto Radio, Leeds for the monthy show Post Brexit Landscapes 02/06/2023.

Bookended by quotes from TS Eliot's Four Quartets, this mixtape interrogates a meta physicality of bodily feeling - the self and the other bound in complex interrelation by the problem of our bodies: dancing, touch, intimacy. Some of the sounds used include: Simone Weil's 'Gravity and Grace', a performance lecture by quantum physicist Karen Barad, dialogue from Suspiria (2018), tracks from This Mortal Coil, Madonna, The Orb and Gantz. It is an invocation of familiar compound ghosts, both intimate and unidentifiable.

Thanks to Eliot Edmonds for inviting me.

ARMCHAIR RAVE (2022)

A radio show/ a mixtape/ a sound work/ an interview. 'Armchair Rave', is a phrase my parents and I have long used for an evening where we sit around listening to tracks and telling stories, from the privacy of my parents kitchen in rural Scotland, to the early hours afterparties they once hosted on their canal boat in Kings Cross, London.

Based on a recording of a conversation with my parents one evening, this is a mixtape/radio show/artwork which tries to sonically chart a very personal history of my parents entanglements with the UK dance music scene, from Stonehenge in 1986 to the Spiral Tribe free parties of the early 1990's through to when the music moved into the clubs and the morning after, the comedown, where do you go from here? It doesn't hope to be an exhaustive history, but rather the tracks are chosen for their personal significance: songs that they grew up while dancing to, and I went on to grow up listening to.

Tracks incude: Spiral Tribe, Usura, Neutron 9000, The Shamen, The Age of Love, Orbital, Jamie XX and Coldcut X Mixmaster Morris.

Thanks to Bridie and Richard Ashrowan.
